By the turn of the century, Harry Charles Costello and his brother Patrick were amongst the most active agents in the bustling seaside resort of Brighton.

Their successes in selling, subdivision, often from a marquee in a carnival atmosphere, made them one of the four largest subdivision agencies in the state.

H.C. Costello purchased the Gemmell Tucket company, established in 1868 and to date have also purchased and absorbed the business of five other agencies.
